Los Angeles continues to grow as the Sports and Entertainment Capitol of the world! The L.A. Live project under construction adjacent to the Staples Center and Convention Center will add tremendously to the title of Entertainment Capitol with several new theaters for various music awards, The Emmy Awards, Miss USA, etc. Club Nokia will seat 2,400 and Nokia Theater will seat 7,100. ESPN, the largest sports brand in the world, will be headquartered here plus other studios. Several restaurants are scheduled to open including PF Chang’s China Bistro and the Yard House. Several clubs will also open. There will also be an 18 lane bowling alley, a Starbuck’s and a 14 screen movie theater. Nokia Plaza will host various community events and cultural festivals. Two hotels are planned: a 1,000 room Ritz-Carlton joined with a JW Marriott soaring 54 stories. The building will also include 225 luxury condominiums. Parking for L.A. Live will include approximately 5,300 new spaces. Public transportation includes Dash, the MTA Blue Line station plus numerous MTA regional and local bus routes. There is also an additional light rail line proposed to service this venue plus USC. Planned to start in 2007 is the Grand Avenue Project. This project, across from the Disney Concert Hall, will contain a 16 acre park stretching from the Department of Water & Power building to City Hall. The original Music Center is scheduled for a major upgrade in order to fit in with this project and the Disney Concert Hall. There will also be numerous luxury condominiums, office towers and retail space designed to interact with the Music Center and Disney Concert Hall. With all this, Downtown will become the center of the Entertainment Capitol of the World and, by 2008.
